Learn & Earn Opens Doors for Allegheny County Youth

Each summer, the Learn & Earn program helps young people across Allegheny County gain meaningful work experience, build career skills, and explore future pathways through paid opportunities with local employers and organizations.

Designed for youth ages 14–23, Learn & Earn introduces participants to real workplace environments while helping them develop essential skills like communication, professionalism, teamwork, and problem-solving. From career exploration and job shadowing to hands-on work experience and industry training, the program helps young people begin building confidence and preparing for their future.

Schools and educators play an important role in helping students access these opportunities. By encouraging eligible students to apply, schools can help connect young people to experiences that expand their understanding of careers, strengthen workplace readiness, and support long-term success beyond the classroom.

Businesses and organizations across the region are also encouraged to get involved by serving as Learn & Earn worksites. Hosting a participant provides employers with extra support, fresh perspectives, and an opportunity to help shape the region’s future workforce at no cost to the organization.

Applications for Learn & Earn are open now through June 5, though spots may fill before the deadline. Youth ages 14–23 who live in Allegheny County can learn more and apply at Jobs4Summer.org.

Organizations interested in becoming a Learn & Earn worksite can contact summer@partner4work.org for more information.
