What’s So Cool About Manufacturing (WSCAM) Middle School Video Contest
The What’s So Cool About Manufacturing (WSCAM) Video Contest is a statewide program that was Created by the Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Catalyst Connection brought this program to Southwestern Pennsylvania in 2014. The contest supports Catalyst Connection’s effort to build a strong pipeline of talent and give young people a new perspective on the exciting career opportunities that exist in manufacturing.
To participate in the contest, a team of 7 students in grades 7th and/or 8th create a short 2:30 minute manufacturing video for their peers, parents, and community explaining what they think is so cool and rewarding about manufacturing! The contest begins annually with a teacher training and culminates each year in the spring with voting and a wonderful celebratory and educational award ceremony!
Catalyst Connection provides a company match for every school, a video kit to all new schools, access to cloud-based video editing software, funding for transportation to the company, and support throughout the program. Catalyst Connection kicks off the program annually in August with a teacher training. We are always accepting new schools for the next program year! Learn more about the program on our webpage.
