SLB Radio Productions, Inc.
A nonprofit serving Pittsburgh since 1978, SLB uses radio and podcasting to amplify voices of youth as they sharpen speaking, listening, collaboration, time management, community engagement and other skills important for virtually all aspects of life. Use of audio supports development of core language skills. Absence of photos or video promotes privacy and eliminates bias, while also leveling the playing field since high-quality results can be achieved at relatively low cost. Our 3,500 square foot Youth Media Center includes six studios, two classrooms, and eight editing stations and is co-located in the Children’s Museum on Pittsburgh’s Northside. Programs include podcasting, journalism, specialized workshops, and audio production and can be accessed through our free afterschool and Saturday program for teens (ymc.slbradio.org), field trips for classrooms (slbradio.org), and opportunities for performers, writers, or clubs to appear as guests on The Saturday Light Brigade, our long-running public radio program (slbradio.org/radio).
